Architecture need not be (perceived as) static!!!

THIS IS BONDAGE, IGNORANCE, ILLUSION…..

Continuity of space, enviroment (and self), etc

is a

Mis-perception

Buildings secretly flow, decay, and are reborn/recreated moment by moment through its inhabitants

Mental conditioning (as static spatial experience) effected by habitual construction of space!!!

HOW to break this habit:

•  change the way we perceive dramatically

•  change space dramatically

•  BOTH SIMUTANOUSLY

MAKE the buildings movement/processes/engagement/etc. Transparent!

HOW?

Not as a secondary aspect of construction, but as it's ESSENTIAL REALITY

WHY?

BEACAUSE THIS IS ALLREADY the Essential Nature of the UNIVERSE !

Interconnected change arising spontaneously on all scales of reality from micro to macro = We Are THAT!!!

Form divides essential space like categories divide essential MIND !!

Form without identification = Useful, adequate to present circumstances

Categories of thought/perception without identification = Useful, adequate to present circumstances

Form with identification = DEAD Space

Categories of thought/perception with identification = DEAD Mind

Moment to Moment buildings imperceptibly change ( light , atoms, erosion, atmosphere, etc)

Moment to Moment the notion (plus identification) of ‘building', ‘form', etc imperceptibly arise in the consciousness of the observer in the ‘building'

UNCONSCIOUS of these processes, static spatial experience results second by second…….. KILLING SPACE!!! And the essential everpresent CREATIVE REALITY!!!

HOW to tap into this Creative Reality ?

Clear, Pure, Direct vision … spontaneous and free action results effortlessly……

MOST ARCHITECTURE is convergent

As it gathers together our memories of Form etc… limiting free perception and use….

TRANSFORMABLE ARCHITECTURE is Divergent

As it draws us irresistibly away from our past memories into the actuality of lived experience

NOW!

Divergence arises from within , YET the transforming nature of ambiguous space (ex. sunrise) can induce an inner observation of mental processes as they seek to limit SPACE, EXPIERENCE, by past DEAD memories/habits of perception

OUTER observation of essential processes induces INNER observation of essential processes = inseparably connected

* AS the outer essential nature of architecture transforms (ambiguous walls shaped by interaction, mixing of ‘outside' and ‘inside' space, etc.) upon observation, so too to does the inner notions/identifications of architecture (habitual ‘living' in a building) dissolve , give way, no longer hold the mind, opening an unlimited and creative view into the absolute presence of the building.

The changing nature of the building and the changing nature of self are realized as a

SINGLE ENTIRITY

Although along side this full realization, exists a continuum (in fact an entire Universe) of mutual interaction to the extent in which the observer(s) open to the building AND the extent in which the building opens to the observer(s) !

OPEN = both Receptive AND RESPONSIVE

HOW? DIRECT COMMUNICATION/EXPRESSION

Communication/Expression most effective with MUTUAL AWARENESS

HOW?

Observer - directly aware of the building, increased attention absent preconceptions

Building- ‘aware' of observer(s) through electronic sensors, ARCH OS, etc...

As the observer increasingly ‘acts' through the building, and the building increasingly acts through the observer…

The observed and the observer are realized as

ONE!

As beings aware of change, freedom of movement is our highest attainment

Should not our buildings strive to do so as well?

They do, they strive to better respond to our needs, though in a disconnected manner often upon large time scales

This disconnected response not only limits the buildings effectiveness, but our very lived experience within them!!!

Disconnection revolves from man-to-space to space-to-man in a never ending cycle of mutual limitation

To reverse the inertia of this trend requires a connection with the creative reality at hand, through real-time mutual interactions no longer measurable by epochs or eras, but by a continual living upsurge hovering the immeasurable spectrum of connectedness and interactive shaping of ‘inner' and ‘outer'

ARCHITECTURE SEPARATE FROM LIVED EXPERIENCE IS A LIE

Architecture has always variously responded to environmental conditions, its walls continually reflecting our passing through the Universe together with the Sun

From its beginnings, it has responded to our will, variously imagined, extended, and implemented

Transformable architecture is architecture that brings us to our experience, through our experience, increasingly upon the seat of individual awareness

Any responsive transformable architecture is not

limited to our notions of movement, evolution, space, and therefore need not strive to appease any limited view of such or superficially express the modern throws of ‘dynamism'

A responsive environment may induce a vision as powerful as our own: ambiguously, subtly, taking us out of habitual thought like our awareness unknowingly touches the stars through the eyes
